My husband and I have already adopted Internationally for our son back in 2004. Our process from complete start to finish was 6 months and 19 days! Our son William was 7 months old at referral and 9 months old when he was brought home.

  • I personally have gone through the dossier preparations and did not have any “service” do it for me.
  • I made all the travel arrangements including flights, hotels, and transportation to and from Russia on two trips
  • We went to court and pleaded our case to the Russian Court System
  • We experienced being parents for the first-time and the trials that come with that

So as you can see, while our journey was with Russia, the agency selection, the paperwork, Dossier preparations, travel arrangements and anxieties are all the same no matter what country you are adopting from. You still have to go through this process. The paperwork may be different but the feelings are the same.

We are currently on the quest for our daughter in China. So, I too will be well versed in that country as well.

While there are several individuals that may be upset with our decision to adopt internationally instead of domestically, that was our decision and I will cover that in future blogs.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to post them here. This is a learning experience for all and everyone should have a voice.

Faithfully yours,
